Kabaya Primary School

School Library Project at Kabaya Primary school.

In 2019 the project founder Felex Musinguzi organized a 40th birthday fundraising dinner in Kampala to raise money for the construction of a school Library at Kabaya primary school in south western Uganda where he studied his primary education from. This dinner brought together many friends both from Uganda and the rest of the world and raised close to 10,000USD.

The aim was to give a second chance for rural kids who never get access to reading materials so that they can compete with the rest of the world while being motivated to be better in their lives and now the building is set.

The computer lab section is also in the school library to give access to the rural kids who have never been near the computer with the aim of skilling them so that they also can know what takes place in the world.

At the moment, with the help of www.kazingatours.com clients, Kabaya primary school has received 11 laptops which will soon be assembled for the kids to use and this project will spread to other schools.

School Lunch Program.

Background

Ever gone to school or work with an empty stomach? Then surely you can remember the difficulties you had while trying to concentrate on the tasks given to you. In our school more than half the students can’t study properly because of the food. Students always to school without lunch packs and all must go home at lunch time but there are many who don’t have hope of finding food at home and so decide to stay remain at school, surprisingly most of the kids don’t return for afternoon classes.

Getting in class with an empty stomach surely isn’t the right start for a day at school. Concentration is lacking and children don’t have the energy for sports, fall sick more often as their resistance is undermined by under nourishment, and drop out more easily from school. I see it happening in our school day by day. We don’t want to be bystanders so we want to take action. I know surely it is impossible to help the whole world but this doesn’t mean that we don’t have the obligation to help even with just the little bits we can share.

That is why our school will start a school lunch program. We want to give every child lunch every school day. Good nutrition is the single most important factor to a child’s performance in school. More important even than the teaching, the school building or the textbooks. The availability of food in some areas is very poor and the incidences of malnutrition and associated illnesses are high. When families are struggling to feed their children, school attendance drops, as the children do not have the energy to walk long distances just to go to school, while parents are more focused on survival.

We provide free school lunches to over 700 children at Kabaya primary school where we have built a library. We supply maize and beans which provides a huge incentive for children to stay in school and helps to feed their brains with the energy they need to reach their academic potentiall. If you would like to help primary school children in kabaya benefit from a nutritious lunch every day, then we invite you to support our school Lunch program by making a donation. Your generosity will make the world of difference to these students’ ability to learn and fulfil their potentialwhich can go a long way in supporting the next generation through their education, $40 can provide tasty and nutritious school lunch to one student for a year.
